Thin Red Line

 Maximillian Wolfgang Gallery is proud to present Thin Red Line, a 2 part performance art showcase featuring Guta Galli and Erin Gallagher. The Thin Red Line refers to the colloquial military term used to describe a thinly stretched group resisting greater forces. Galli and Gallagher each utilize textile and performance to approach topics surrounding this idea. Galli’s performance The Minotaur and Us (July 28th) explores the political fictions projected on female’s bodies, and how they affect the experience of womanhood. It also investigates the power narratives that divide and/or connect women, and complicates the abysmal gap(s) that exists between gender, identity and representation. Gallagher’s performance Penetrable Armor (July 13th) examines the long-reaching resonance of domestic abuse and its subsequent PTSD. Through poetry and movement, her piece explores the recollection of traumatic memories embedded in the body.  

Thin Red Line is a month-long performance art showcase featuring 2 solo exhibitions by each artist throught July. Erin Gallagher’s Penetrable Armor will be performed alongside her paintings on July 13th 6-9pm. Guta Galli will perform The Minotaur and Us on July 28th 4-7pm.
