The word mystic is defined as involving or catagorised by esoteric or otherworldly or symbolic practices or content. Mystic aims to explore the magic of artistic practice, stripping back art to its origin of imagination and fantasy. The works in the show combine reality with elements of otherworldly elements, enrapturing the viewer in an alternative world where everything is not as it seems. A dream-like quality contrasts the stark white walls of Maximillian Wölfgang Gallery transforming the gallery into an otherworldly space. The narrative the pieces present brings in the macabre, the uncanny, while also drawing the viewer in through curiosity. We invite the viewer to ask questions, imagine, and fall into each artist's personal world. Curated by Hannah Savage and featuring works from Meg Durham, Abi Haywood, Meda Povilonytė, Chris Rabbit, and Hannah Savage Mystic will be on display at Maxmillian Wölfgang Gallery from the 18th of April until the 2nd of May.
